Survey Says: Confidence, Career Development Opportunities, and Communication are Key

A few months ago, we conducted a survey for Founders, leaders, Force Multipliers, Executive Assistants, and Chiefs of Staff to find out more about how we can help you grow in your business, your career, and your life. Thank you to everyone who participated in the survey! This information is invaluable in learning more about the needs of our community, as well as making sure we are providing you with the right content, resources, and tools to help you succeed.

So, without further ado, here is a summary of the survey results.

What is your biggest professional challenge?

The top three biggest professional challenges were career development (53%), executive presence and confidence (44%), and leadership (32%). Other professional challenges cited were:

  • Time management
  • Prioritization
  • Organization
  • Project Management
  • Building a strong strategic partnership
  • Work/life balance
  • Hiring and interviewing
  • Strategic planning and goal setting
  • Building white space into my day to think & plan
  • Consistency

EXECUTIVES: What is the biggest challenge you face when working with your Force Multiplier (EA, CoS, etc.)?

The top three challenges that executives face are utilizing their strategic partner (12%), giving up control (10%), and communication (8%). Other challenges cited where:

  • Hiring the right person
  • Earning the respect from my employees
  • Giving constructive feedback

FORCE MULTIPLIERS (EA, CoS, etc.): What is the biggest challenge you face when working with your Executive? 

The top three challenges that Force Multipliers face are investment into the strategic partnership (46%), being seen as “just an admin” (32%), and communication (29%). Other challenges cited where:

  • Getting my boss to give up control
  • Finding the right Executive/Founder to work with
  • Inconsistent or nonexistent feedback
  • Interference by other leaders
  • Understanding the business
  • Consistency

What do you need in order to grow your career or your business? 

There were a variety of responses to this question, but inevitably a few themes emerged.

  • Develop my confidence
  • Start working with a mentor or coach
  • Additional training and learning opportunities – particularly around leadership, project management, and general business acumen

How do you consume content most frequently?

The top three sources for consuming content were articles/blogs (70%), emails/newsletters (66%), and reading books – physical copies or ebooks (59%). Those mediums were following pretty closely by podcasts, audiobooks, and video. At the bottom of the list were webinars, LinkedIn, and TikTok.

What is your favorite social media platform?

The top three favorite social media platforms were LinkedIn (49%), Instagram (47%), and Facebook (31%). Those platforms were followed by YouTube, Twitter, and TikTok.
